Booking Harpistrie

We are based in Northampton and are familiar with most of the main venues in the immediate area. We are able to quote for events roughly within a 80 mile radius of our base, covering much of South and East/Central England.  This isn't rigid, so please don't be put off if you are a little beyond our normal range.

To discuss your requirements please e-mail us at info@harpistrie.co.uk.  Please state the date and times and also the name and location of the venue.  This should be enough in the first instance, and will enable us to give you a quotation.  If we are available and you wish to go ahead, we will ask for a £50 deposit to secure the date for you.

Fee Guidelines

We always quote clients individually, depending on requirements and circumstances.  As a rough guide, our fees for weddings and private functions will usually lie in the range £240 to £360.  We offer a greatly reduced rate for local community, charitable and fund-raising events.

The basic fee includes travel up to 10 miles from our Northampton base.  Thereafter a modest mileage supplement is applied.

A few things worth noting...

• For weddings we prefer to quote for no more than two of the three main divisions of the proceedings - i.e.. Ceremony, Drinks/Reception and Dinner (Wedding Breakfast).  All three is perhaps too much of a good thing! However, much depends on the playing time.
• We occupy less space than a string quartet and little more than a solo harpist.  Nevertheless we do need a reserved space where we will not inconvenience guests or staff, or cause a hazard.  We can negotiate with the venue about details.  
• We find that even a gentle breeze can blow music off the stands, or at least turn pages at inconvenient moments! Because of this, plus the value of our instruments and their vulnerability to the elements, we are unable to play fully outdoors.  The best position is often beside open double-doors, allowing the music to drift out into the gardens.
• In a Marquee, the harp will require a level flat surface such as a dance-floor.  
• We will require up to 20 minutes to move site within a venue.
• We need to take occasional breaks during a long session.
• If speeches are to follow a dinner we will normally play up to the serving of coffee, giving us time to make a discreet exit before the speeches commence.
